I'm technically on a hiatus from cakes at the moment...but I broke it to do a cake for my company Christmas party. It was a great time and my bosses girlfriend did an amazing job arranging it.

Wedding Cake
I had the privilege of doing a very sweet, feminine cake for the daughter of a friend of mine since grade school. I was VERY excited to get the order because I get requests for a lot of character/theme cakes and rarely for something that is just plain beautiful. :) This was the end result.
Thank you to Cheryl Lopez Photography for the beautiful pictures.

Johnny Test & Dukey for Ryder's 4th Birthday....
I can't believe my nephew is 4...I wasn't real proud of this one because I didn't do a great job on the characters, but he liked it...that's all that matters. :)

Zebra and Pink Birthday Cake
Zebra must be really popular right now because this is my third zebra cake...I do love it and its fairly easy to execute. I love the way my pattern came out on this one.

Animal print and RED for Faith's 13th Birthday
It's that time of year again...my niece's birthday. She turned 13 this year and wanted zebra, cheetah and red. I was skeptical but I think it turned out pretty well. I used a sugar sheet on the zebra tier and it bubbled. Not sure how to prevent that in the future. I'll have to look into it. Here it is...:)

Western Wedding Cake
I did this cake for my cousin's wedding in the mountains of Tehachapi, Ca. The top and bottom tiers are denim with eyelet lace and the middle tier is tooled leather. So much fun and such a beautiful wedding.

Motocross Cookies!!
I finally found the time to try my hand at sugar cookies and let me tell you...it was a learning experience. Icing consistency is EVERYTHING... I prefer royal icing with corn syrup to without....and that outline around the outside edge of a round cookie is harder than it looks.
I did Motocross cookies for my boyfriend's birthday. (To whoever originally did these...thank you :)) I printed the images in the size that I needed them, taped them to a cake board and taped wax paper over that...then filled in the designs.
I then laid them under a fan to dry for 24 hours before peeling them off of the waxed paper. I broke a couple of the guys on bikes so you have to be really careful. They are delicate. I also learned that I prefer using bottles to dealing with messy piping bags. I only had a couple of the Wilton brand from Wal-Mart but I discovered that they make bottles in a couple of sizes and you can put decorating tips on them. I ordered immediately! :) Also, the royal icing dries darker so my colors weren't as vibrant once they were dry. Boooo. Here is the finished product.
I also made him a chocolate/peanut butter cake....it was to die for. I think I'm in love with Bird on A Cake. Check out her blog. Here's the cake.

Rosettes and Pearls Birthday Cake
I hesitated to post this cake because I wasn't able to finish it, but I have been dieing to do rosettes and I love them...LOL. This was for my mom and my sister in law, who share a birthday. I normally do two cakes for them but decided to make it easier on myself this year and combine them into one. Thank goodness I did because when I was half way through it my boyfriend called and told me he had crashed his dirt bike and needed me to drive him to the emergency room. By the time I got home the birthday dinner was over and I had just enough time to make the cake presentable for a picture. It was also dark outside, which is never good when photographing a cake. The other element that I wish had been more properly planned on my part is the ombre effect on the rosettes. The center roses should have been lighter...next time I will make them smaller and have four rows of gradient colors instead of three. You live and learn...:) Here is the cake...
